Rituals
I have a morning ritual which I do not like breaking.
It may seem a little funny to some, but I have 2 particular mugs that I have my first cup of tea in the morning in. It has to be either of those 2 mugs. It is something which has only really happened in the last couple of years and kind of stuck!
Why those particular mugs? I have found myself wondering this and when I really thought about it, I realised that it was because they were bought for me by my work colleague and friend. This friend has been somebody who taught my daughter in school and has been a tremendous role model to me within my job. She got us through covid home schooling with her storytelling! I really do look up to her, and a lot of how I work has come from me watching her teaching style.
It has been said that giving a mug as a gift signifies thoughtfulness, comfort and connection. I must admit, I do feel comfort when I have that first tea of the morning and it sets me up for the day. Maybe on a subconscious level, I receive those feelings of connection and comfort to my friend, who always makes me feel like that when I am with her. The designs of the mugs in themselves are floral, no words or phrases on it, just beautiful artistic decoration, which also connects me to her as she has a great love of art herself!
I feel very honoured to have been given these gifts which allow me to start my day with a ritual which sets me up on a positive note.
(Thankyou, Sarah!)
