Sanctuary
I closed my eyes as the sand became my bed
I wanted to shut out the world and forget
The wind heightened from a whisper to a wail
As I succumb to the oceans power.
I wanted to be here forever, on this perfect shore
To taste the salt on my chapped lips
The sun strengthening from tepid to scorching
As I succumb to the oceans call.
I dig my fingers deep into the sand to feel each grain
I need to find myself again, who I am
The foam fermenting chaos on the pebbles
As I succumb to the oceans message
I sigh a breath of contentment, on this sandy sanctuary
The wind calms from a wail to a whisper
I am at peace at last, amongst the swirl.
